I specialize in guiding women experiencing metabolic health challenges and the increasing stress of limited work-life balance with children entering adulthood and aging parents. Developed and coordinated interdisciplinary meetings amongst departments at Joslin Diabetes Center, Boston. Further brought this model to other health centers where I functioned as a nutritionist, interdisciplinary team leader/coordinator, community speaker/marketer
Worked with chef at an upscale oceanside restaurant to create a healthier menu – The Seafit Menu; provided community lectures to raise awareness of this nutrition-based menu and how to build community health
Served as leadership team member for Adolescent Wellness, an organization developed to support mental health awareness and create programs for adolescents struggling with depression and suicidal tendencies
Julie Freeman is a licensed integrative nutritionist with graduate education in psychology, counseling and education. Post-graduate concentration has been in functional medicine, with completion and certification in this discipline. She has over 40 years’ experience in the field of nutrition, counseling and health promotion.
Her tool set includes functional lab testing (advanced labs to look at root cause illness or lack of wellness); genomic testing; fitness assessment and referral; relaxation techniques; supplement suggestions when warranted; empathic and intuitive listening to create a safe space for clients
She has authored two cookbooks with a focus on balanced meals in book one and healthy, low glycemic desserts and snacks in book two. Julie has a passion and knack for creating meals that are eye-appealing, delicious and healthy. Her third book, Sunflowers, Sapphires and Seraphim, is her personal story of transformation – an opportunity to share and inspire hope for others faced with life’s challenges.
